Cookie Policy

Last updated: February 20, 2026

OptimalCardSetup uses minimal browser storage to operate. This page explains exactly what we store in your browser and why, including essential storage.

Essential Storage

We use the following essential storage mechanisms required for the Service to function. These cannot be disabled without affecting core functionality:

Authentication Token (localStorage)

A JWT (JSON Web Token) stored in your browser's localStorage to keep you signed in between visits. This token contains your session information and is sent with API requests to verify your identity. It is not a cookie, but we include it here for full transparency. It is removed when you sign out.

Theme Preference (cookie)

A single cookie that stores your light or dark mode preference so the page renders with the correct theme before JavaScript loads. This prevents a flash of the wrong theme on page load. It contains no personal information.

Affiliate Link Tracking

When you click an affiliate link to a credit card application, the destination site may set cookies to attribute the referral. These cookies are set by the card issuer or affiliate network (not by us) and are governed by their own privacy policies. We do not control or have access to these cookies.

What We Do NOT Use

  • No first-party tracking cookies — We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other first-party tracking service.
  • No cross-site tracking — We do not track your activity across other websites.

Third-Party Services

Our third-party service providers (Stripe, Google OAuth, Microsoft OAuth, Cloudflare) may set their own cookies when you interact with their services (e.g., during payment checkout or OAuth sign-in). These cookies are governed by each provider's own cookie and privacy policies, not ours. We have no control over these cookies and they are only set during direct interactions with those services.

Managing Cookies

You can manage cookies through your browser settings:

  • Clear theme cookie — Delete cookies for optimalcardsetup.com in your browser settings. Your theme will reset to the system default.
  • Clear auth token — Clear localStorage for optimalcardsetup.com in your browser's developer tools, or simply sign out through the app (which removes the token automatically).
  • Block third-party cookies — Use your browser's cookie settings to block third-party cookies. This will not affect the core functionality of the Service.
